I evaluated Coinbase, Ledger, Anchorage, Bitgo, Casa, and&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Posted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/tim.draper\">Tim Draper<\/a> on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/tim.draper\/posts\/10157665902299235\">Saturday, July 27, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Draper acquired 30,000 bitcoins in 2014<\/h2>\n<p>Draper, a strategic investor in American crypto exchange Coinbase and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/robinhood\/\">Robinhood<\/a>, is well-known for <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/tim-draper-still-has-260-million-worth-of-bitcoin-at-current-price-6500\/\">acquiring nearly 30,000 BTC<\/a> in July 2014 at the US Marshals Service auction of seized coins from the now-defunct black marketplace, Silk Road.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2018, Fortune\u2019s Jen Wieczner asked Draper in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=poMdExcVtvM\">interview<\/a> whether he was still holding the bitcoins he purchased at the auction. Responding to Wieczner\u2019s question at a time when the BTC price had dropped from its all-time high of nearly $20,000 to around $6,400, Draper said he was not only holding those bitcoins but he\u2019d also purchased more.<\/p>\n<h2>Bitcoin is good for humanity<\/h2>\n<p>In a recent interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/07\/19\/tim-draper-says-cryptocurrencies-bitcoin-are-good-for-humanity.html\">CNBC<\/a>, Draper argued that Bitcoin is good for humanity and that regulatory authorities should not unnecessarily interfere with the digital currency\u2019s ongoing growth and development.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the increased attention Bitcoin received after the Senate hearings on Facebook\u2019s crypto project <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/facebooks-cryptocurrency-libra-whitepaper-reveals-blockbuster-partnerships\/\">Libra<\/a>, Draper remarked:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c[The discussions about cryptocurrencies are] bringing [Bitcoin] to light. It\u2019s good to have people talk about it because the more they talk about it, the more they realize how important bitcoin is going to be for the planet, for all of us.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Draper added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis is one of the best things that\u2019s ever happened to us.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>$250,000 bitcoin price prediction<\/h2>\n<p>The bullish Harvard and Stanford graduate predicted last year that the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/billionaire-investor-tim-draper-bitcoin-will-reach-250000-and-fiat-is-doomed\/\">bitcoin price will surge to $250,000 by 2022<\/a>. Elaborating on why he believes BTC\u2019s value will continue to rise, Draper told Wieczner during a panel discussion:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c[Bitcoin will make up] about five percent market share [of the daily global transaction volume] to get to $250,000. That seems like a drop in a bucket and all we need to really do is make it so that Bitcoin can be used to buy Starbucks coffee, and all of a sudden the world just opens up and then they say \u2018I\u2019ve got this choice.\u2019 &#8230; Do I want a currency that I can take from country to country &#8230; or do I want one that sticks me in one country or one geographic area and I can\u2019t use it anywhere else?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>\u201cLet\u2019s let things roll\u201d, let\u2019s see how Libra plays out<\/h2>\n<p>According to the prominent tech investor, the reduced costs of conducting cross-border transactions and the relative ease of making remittance payments with cryptocurrencies will help humanity by improving the global economy.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike other industry participants who\u2019ve criticized Facebook\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/libra\/\">Libra<\/a> project for being centralized or not being a true cryptocurrency, Draper believes the social media firm should be given a chance to develop and ship their own digital asset. He stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThey haven\u2019t even been able to ship it yet, and the regulators are all over them. Let them ship the thing. Let\u2019s see how it happens.
