{"id":197159,"date":"2021-08-19T17:00:36","date_gmt":"2021-08-19T16:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=197159"},"modified":"2021-08-19T17:11:41","modified_gmt":"2021-08-19T16:11:41","slug":"ethereums-vitalik-buterin-isnt-sold-on-dorseys-bitcoin-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ethereums-vitalik-buterin-isnt-sold-on-dorseys-bitcoin-plans\/","title":{"rendered":"Ethereum&#8217;s Vitalik Buterin isn&#8217;t sold on Dorsey&#8217;s Bitcoin plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vitalik Buterin, a co-founder of Ethereum, in a recent interview has revealed his doubts about the plans Jack Dorsey and Mark Zuckerberg might be making about the crypto industry, as per a report on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-08-18\/ethereum-founder-is-skeptical-of-dorsey-s-and-zuckerberg-s-plans?srnd=premium-asia\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bloomberg<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> today.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Dorsey and Zuckerberg\u2019s crypto dream<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dorsey, CEO of Square, recently revealed his plan for the leading digital asset, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/dutch-club-psv-to-receive-entire-sponsorship-in-bitcoin-btc\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bitcoin<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, saying that Square would be creating a new business unit, TBD which would be focused on building an open developer platform that would make financial services more decentralized, permissionless, and non-custodial on Bitcoin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not only that, the Twitter founder also revealed that Square would also be working towards building a hardware wallet and service that would drive Bitcoin custodial services more mainstream.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All of this adventure, coupled with his outspoken support for the flagship asset has led to some calling him the \u201cface of Bitcoin\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, Facebook\u2019s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, recently revealed that the future of the social media giant could lie in the metaverse sphere.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the same time, the maverick is also backing a crypto asset, Diem, which has drawn some level of criticisms and concerns from regulators around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Buterin skeptic about Dorsey and Zuckerberg<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ethereum founder during the interview with <em>Bloomberg TV<\/em> noted that Jack Dorsey would have to create his own system to bring DeFi capacity to BTC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0In his words, \u201con <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ethereum-eth-cardano-ada-are-crowd-favorite-cryptos-in-singapore\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ethereum<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> there\u2019s native functionality that allows you to essentially directly put ETH or Ethereum-based assets into these smart contracts, into these lockboxes, where there are then arbitrary conditions that can govern how those assets get released.\u201d He added that, \u201cJack is basically going to have to essentially create his own system that enforces those rules.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking on Zukerberg\u2019s idea of turning Facebook Inc into a \u201cmetaverse company,\u201d the crypto industrialist noted that Zukerberg has been involved with the widely scrutinized Facebook-backed cryptocurrency project and \u201cthat there\u2019s just a wide margin of mistrust about Facebook but constructing its own platform could prove otherwise.
