Beck, Director of United Texas Bank.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What about Ripple?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;As crypto and digital currencies rise in prominence, we're especially optimistic about the potential of stablecoins as a method to streamline cross-border payments,&#8221; said Alex Holmes, MoneyGram Chairman, and CEO, underscoring the company\u2019s expertise in global payments, blockchain, and compliance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/ninabambysheva\/2021\/10\/06\/moneygram-partners-with-ripple-competitor-stellar-will-settle-transactions-with-usdc-stablecoin\/?sh=348bbab24db4\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Forbes<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, while commenting on MoneyGram\u2019s old partnership with Ripple (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/xrp\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">XRP<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), Holmes disagreed on characterizing the new agreement with Stellar as a replacement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deal with Ripple allowed MoneyGram to use the crypto company's product for cross-border payment and foreign exchange settlement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The partnership came to an end earlier in March after the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/xrp-holders-wont-join-as-defendants-in-the-sec-vs-ripple-case\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sued<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ripple over a securities law violation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Holmes, the partnership with Ripple \u201cwas much more focused on the backend,\u201d while the new tie-up with the company\u2019s chief competitor, Stellar, \u201cis actually even more exciting because it brings the frontend consumer side to it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ripple-wallet-that-funds-jed-mccalebs-tacostand-now-has-zero-xrp-remaining\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jed McCaleb<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the co-founder, and CTO of Stellar co-founded Ripple back in 2011 but parted ways with the company in 2014 over internal disagreements.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shortly following his departure, McCaleb tried to dump all of his XRP, received as part of Ripple\u2019s founding team, but was prevented from doing so by the rest of the company\u2019s management.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In July, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/stellar-xlm-considers-buying-ex-ripple-partner-moneygram\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CryptoSlate<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reported on rumors of MoneyGram\u2019s potential takeover by Stellar, less than six months after the money transfer services giant announced the end of its partnership with Ripple.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the world&#8217;s largest money transfer services, MoneyGram International, recently announced stepping into a partnership with Stellar Development Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the development of the Stellar (XLM) blockchain.
