<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KCfYKySDRt\">pic.twitter.com\/KCfYKySDRt<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Crypto.com (@cryptocom) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cryptocom\/status\/1460840630779887616?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 17, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deal made between Crypto.com and AEG, the owner and operator of the arena, ties Singapore cryptocurrency exchange in a partnership with the legendary basketball and hockey teams, LA Lakers and LA Kings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the report, Staples paid $116 million over 20 years for the naming rights to the arena, starting in 1999.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIn the next few years, people will look back at this moment as the moment when crypto crossed the chasm into the mainstream,\u201d Crypto.com\u2019s chief executive, Kris Marszalek told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/story\/2021-11-16\/crypto-staples\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los Angeles Times<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beyond sports events, the venue hosted major events such as the Grammys and claimed an important place in the city\u2019s cultural landscape.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Crypto mainstream adoption\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s a bit of a match made in heaven, when we think about the type of brands that we like to partner with,\u201d AEG president and CEO Dan Beckerman told <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LA Times<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cCrypto.com is looking for the most unique branding platform to make a statement and drive adoption, and we\u2019re looking for an innovative, forward-thinking company to help us chart a course for the future of sports and entertainment events,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crypto.com already has several commercial sports partnerships, but the first in the NBA go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/philadelphia-76ers-to-launch-nfts-after-signing-on-crypto-com-as-sponsors\/\">Philadelphia 76ers<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To tip off the deal, which made Crypto.com the team\u2019s official jersey patch partner, the 76ers announced launching their first-ever non-fungible token (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cryptos\/nft\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NFT<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), available through Crypto.com NFT.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier this year, the Singapore-based crypto exchange also signed a deal with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League and secured a brand presence in the Formula 1\u2032s Sprint series through a $100 million sponsorship.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On December 25, Los Angeles&#8217; iconic Staples Center will be renamed into Crypto.com Arena.
