As such, if BuyTheBroncos is successful in purchasing the team, \u201cthe fans would govern the team through a DAO, which would take the legal form of a cooperative.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">O\u2019Brien told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/02\/19\/-buythebroncos-dao-aims-to-raise-4-billion-to-buy-denver-broncos.html\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CNBC:<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe know it sounds a bit crazy, but it\u2019s also a bit badass. The purpose essentially is to establish an infrastructure so that fans from all walks of life can be owners of the Denver Broncos,\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He added that while BuyTheBroncos\u2019 smart contracts and wallets are already deployed, the DAO will officially go live only somewhere within the first week of March.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the future, the organization also plans to issue special non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for contributors that \u201cwill double as your \u2018membership card\u2019 that grants you access to the cooperative.\u201d Meanwhile, if the deal ultimately falls through, users \u201cwill have options to be reimbursed,\u201d according to the DAO\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buythebroncos.com\/#faq\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FAQ section<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The race is on<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Denver Broncos went on sale in early February and is currently valued at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/teams\/denver-broncos\/?sh=2aa4c5b16c77\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">$3.75 billion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/33194474\/nfl-denver-broncos-sale-price-likely-set-record-north-american-sports-franchise\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ESPN<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, such a massive price tag will likely make this the biggest deal in the history of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">all <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">North American sports\u2014and not just football.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Broncos CEO Joe Ellis told the outlet earlier:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe Broncos are a special franchise that is part of the fabric of this region, and whoever emerges as the new owner will certainly understand what the team means to our great fans and this community,\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And as if raising $4 billion from the crypto community wasn\u2019t a gargantuan task on its own, the clock is also ticking for BuyTheBronco\u2014because the team\u2019s current trustees aim to sell the Denver Broncos by the start of 2022 NFL season (September 8).<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It was great meeting Vitalik the founder of Ethereum. Recently, he <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westword.com\/news\/cryptocurrency-blockchain-ETHDenver-Polis-Colorado-Web3-13481469\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">announced plans<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to accept cryptocurrencies for state tax payments\u2014and has already voiced his support for BuyTheBroncos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI would be excited to be part of [the BuyTheBroncos DAO] myself,\u201d Polis told <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CNBC<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe challenge will be it\u2019ll take a lot of money&#8230;but you know what, if your imagination is big enough, then it can happen. And anything I can do to make it happen, I\u2019d be happy to.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indeed, such a prominent ally could come in handy\u2014especially since it\u2019s currently unclear whether the NFL would even allow a DAO to buy the Denver Broncos.
