The company said the move is part of its plan to ensure long-term stability and liquidity on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement caused <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/celsius\/\">CEL<\/a>&#8216;s price to fall 73%, and the token was trading at $0.21 as of press time.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1039px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/x\/oEyRvU9B\/\" alt=\"CELUSD CHART BY TRADINGVIEW\" width=\"1039\" height=\"482\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>CELUSD CHART BY TRADINGVIEW<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Celsius said rewards will continue to accrue while the suspension is in effect.\u00a0The platform did not respond to a request for comment on the suspension.<\/p>\n<h2>Macroeconomic factors continue taking a toll on crypto<\/h2>\n<p>Celsius' decision to halt withdrawals, swaps, and transfers between accounts comes after a significant rout in the crypto market over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BTC<\/a>), the largest crypto by capitalization, is down 13.40% in the day to trade at $23,736.23. This price represents a 65% drop from the coin's November 10 all-time high (ATH) of $68,692.14. The recent selloff has also seen the crypto market's capitalization plummet below $1 trillion to hit $968.84 billion at the time of writing.<\/p>\n<p>This crash comes after the U.S. Department of Labor <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bitcoin-sinks-in-reaction-to-us-consumer-price-index-hitting-40-year-high-at-8-6\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">released<\/a> the Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for the month of May.<\/p>\n<p>Economists had previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/sergeiklebnikov\/2022\/04\/12\/experts-believe-inflation-may-have-peaked-but-prices-will-remain-elevated-this-year\/?sh=226766013796\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">predicted<\/a> the CPI would remain constant at 8.3%.
