We will soon close the V2 UI and investigate further with our tech team.<\/p>\n<p>Updates will be posted on our official channels.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Defrost Finance \ud83d\udd3a (@Defrost_Finance) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Defrost_Finance\/status\/1606455304841236480?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 24, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>However, on Dec. 25, the team reported the hacker also obtained the owner key for a larger attack on the platform\u2019s V1 product.<\/p>\n<p>The hacker made almost $173k from the exploit, according to blockchain analytics firm PeckShield.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Defrost_Finance?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Defrost_Finance<\/a> is exploited, leading to the gain of ~$173k for the hacker. The hack is made possible due to the lack of reentrancy lock for the flashloan()\/deposit() functions, which was used by the hacker to manipulate the share price of LSWUSDC. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SINHUZXC0D\">pic.twitter.com\/SINHUZXC0D<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; PeckShieldAlert (@PeckShieldAlert) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PeckShieldAlert\/status\/1606276020276891650?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 23, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Upon further analysis, PeckShield <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/peckshield\/status\/1606767457099993088\">revealed<\/a> that a fake collateral token was added. A malicious price oracle was used to liquidate current users for a total loss of more than $12 million, indicating a possible rug pull.<\/p>\n<p>Further, blockchain security firm Certik claimed that the exploit was an exit scam after they couldn't get any response to their queries from Defrost Finance team.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/CertiKSkynetAlert?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#CertiKSkynetAlert<\/a> \ud83d\udea8 <\/p>\n<p>On 24 December we have seen an <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/exitscam?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#exitscam<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Defrost_Finance?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Defrost_Finance<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We have attempted to contact multiple members of the team but have had no response. <\/p>\n<p>The team are not KYC&#39;d but we are using all the information that we do have to assist with authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XC009dM40T\">pic.twitter.com\/XC009dM40T<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; CertiK Alert (@CertiKAlert) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CertiKAlert\/status\/1607300101030002689?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 26, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>On the same note, DeFiYieldApp, a Web3 security firm, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DefiyieldSec\/status\/1606805685311791104\">tweeted<\/a> that they warned the DeFi Community one year ago about the Defrost Finance smart contract vulnerability that allows the firm to rugpull its users.<\/p>\n<p>Even though there are no clear indications whether the hack was a rug pull, the firm has shown a willingness to negotiate with the hackers to return funds.<\/p>\n<p>On Dec. 25, the total value of funds locked on the protocol had dropped to less than $93,000 from $13.16 million after the attack, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/defillama.com\/protocol\/defrost\">DefiLlama data<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-284436 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/ava.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"678\" height=\"370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/ava.png 678w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/ava-300x164.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Decentralized leverage trading platform on Avalanche, Defrost finance reported that all the funds lost due to an exploit on its platform on Dec. 23 were returned on Dec. 26 after claims of a possible rug pull.
