(SEBC) in November 2022. SEBC is one of the largest exchanges in Japan and is regulated by the country's Financial Services Agency (FSA),<\/p>\n<p>SEBC has been renamed Binance Japan, and its goal is to build a sustainable Web3 ecosystem in the Asian country.<\/p>\n<h2>Binance Japan to list BNB and 33 other assets.<\/h2>\n<p>Per the press statement, Binance Japan will list 34 digital assets, including popular crypto assets like Bitcoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">BTC<\/a>), Ethereum (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">ETH<\/a>), Dogecoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/dogecoin\/\">DOGE<\/a>), and others, on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>The most notable inclusion among these assets is Binance's BNB which is making its trading debut in the country. <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bnb\/\">BNB<\/a> faces regulatory challenges in the U.S., where the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bnb-busd-not-securities-binance-rejects-secs-security-labels\/\">labeled<\/a> it a security.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, services on the Binance Japan platform include spot trading, Earn products, and an NFT Marketplace. The exchange would not provide derivatives trading services for retailers.<\/p>\n<h2>Global regulatory struggles<\/h2>\n<p>Binance Japan launch provides a pivotal boost for the embattled exchange's business, which has faced heightened regulatory troubles across multiple jurisdictions in recent months.<\/p>\n<p>Japan is one of the few countries that has maintained strict crypto regulations. The regulatory framework was crucial in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ftx-japan-to-resume-withdrawals-on-feb-21\/\">safeguarding FTX Japan customers' funds<\/a> from the parent company's bankruptcy.<\/p>\n<p>However, Binance has struggled to obtain appropriate licenses in several countries, forcing it to exit places like the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binance-withdraws-from-netherlands-following-vasp-license-snub\/\">Netherlands,\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binance-exits-cyprus-to-focus-on-larger-eu-markets-amid-regulatory-hurdles\/\">Cyprus<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binances-european-exodus-continues-as-exchange-withdraws-critical-license-application-in-germany\/\">Germany<\/a>, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binances-uk-subsidiary-withdraws-fca-registration-as-european-exodus-continues\/\">U.K.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>These struggles have negatively impacted its market dominance, with its spot market share falling to 50% from 64% earlier this year, according to blockchain analytical firm Kaiko <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KaikoData\/status\/1684127918698496001?s=20\">data<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Embattled crypto exchange Binance&#8217;s Japanese subsidiary launched a dedicated platform to onboard new customers in the Asian country, according to an Aug. 1 press statement.
