(Source: CryptoSlate)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>An evaluation of the top ten AI coins by market capitalization, including <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/the-graph\/\">The Graph<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/fetch\/\">Fetch<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/singularitynet\/\">SingularityNET<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ocean-protocol\/\">Ocean Protocol<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/dkargo\/\">dKargo<\/a>, and others, showed that most of these tokens recorded double-digit gains during the reporting period, continuing a run where they all posted an average return of more than 45% during the past 30 days.<\/p>\n<p>This run is <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/how-the-top-5-ai-tokens-agix-fet-ocean-rlc-and-nmr-fared-during-2022\/\">reminiscent of the euphoria<\/a> these tokens had generated earlier in the year on the back of the launch of OpenAI's generative AI chatbot, ChatGPT. The AI captured the imaginations of people across the globe with its novel technology, resulting in its digital traffic accounting for more than 60% of all AI tools during the past year.<\/p>\n<p>Its <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/openai-unveils-gpt-4-turbo-custom-gpts-and-more-at-openai-devday\/\">success<\/a> also spurred the development of several rival companies like Anthropic and the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ibm-invests-500m-into-ai-venture-fund\/\">entrance of major technological companies<\/a> like Meta, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/google-and-microsoft-describe-ai-prospects-in-latest-earning-reports\/\">Google, and Microsoft<\/a> into the scene.<\/p>\n<p>However, the AI narrative soon <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ai-tokens-see-the-lowest-weekly-trading-volume-this-year\/\">subsided<\/a> as the market evolved as major traditional financial institutions, including <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/blackrock\/\">BlackRock<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/fidelity-investments\/\">Fidelity<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/sec-rumored-to-be-instructing-spot-bitcoin-etf-applicants-to-include-cash-creates\/\">applied<\/a> for a spot <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">Bitcoin<\/a> exchange-traded fund (ETF) with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).<\/p>\n<h2>Why AI tokens are pumping<\/h2>\n<p>Crypto traders' interest in the sector was <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DannyCrypt\/status\/1726502569588244934?s=20\">rekindled<\/a> over the weekend as OpenAI battled its leadership issues.<\/p>\n<p>Andrei Grachev, the co-founder and managing partner of crypto market maker Digital Wave Finance (DWF), <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ag_dwf\/status\/1726501996910321807?s=20\">said<\/a> the &#8220;Sam Altman case is pushing people's interest to AI tokens.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On Nov. 17, OpenAI's board <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/sam-altman-removed-as-openai-ceo\/\">decided<\/a> to replace founder Sam Altman as CEO.
