Grayscale CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/michael-sonnenshein\/\">Michael Sonnenshein<\/a> was among those in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>The SEC held meetings with <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/grayscale-investments\/\">Grayscale<\/a> on three other dates starting in 2022, the most recent of which occurred last month on November<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/grayscale-files-updated-bitcoin-etf-prospectus-days-after-talks-with-u-s-sec\/\">\u00a020, 2023<\/a>. Two additional sessions involved members of Grayscale's custody partner, Coinbase.<\/p>\n<p>Those meetings concerned a proposed rule change that would allow NYSE Arca to list and trade Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) shares. Grayscale plans to convert GBTC to a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund.<\/p>\n<h2>SEC also met with BlackRock and others<\/h2>\n<p>The SEC held talks with other asset managers last month. Notably, it met with <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/blackrock\/\">BlackRock<\/a> regarding its proposed iShares spot Bitcoin ETF on <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/blackrock-adjusts-proposed-spot-bitcoin-etf-structure-to-allay-sec-concerns\/\">Nov. 28<\/a> and Nov. 20. Attachments show that both <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/blackrock\/\">BlackRock<\/a> discussions concerned comparisons between in-kind and cash redemption models, which will determine whether some ETF participants transact with cryptocurrency or cash.<\/p>\n<p>The securities regulator also said on <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/sec-meets-with-hashdex-to-discuss-its-bitcoin-etf-proposal\/\">Nov. 29<\/a> that it met with asset manager Hashdex days earlier to discuss the firm's proposed spot Bitcoin ETF.<\/p>\n<p>Other SEC disclosures indicate that the agency met with <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/bitwise\/\">Bitwise<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/vaneck\">VanEck<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/fidelity\">Fidelity<\/a>, and Invesco on their respective proposals in late November. The agency also met with <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/21shares\/\">21Shares<\/a> on behalf of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/ark-invest\/\">Ark Invest's<\/a> spot Bitcoin ETF proposal around the end of the month. It does not appear that the SEC met with <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/wisdomtree\/\">WisdomTree<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/valkyrie\/\">Valkyrie<\/a>, or GlobalX on their respective spot Bitcoin ETF applications.<\/p>\n<p>The SEC has not publicly stated any plans to approve a spot Bitcoin ETF in spite of the fact that it has disclosed these numerous recent meetings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has recently disclosed meetings with several asset managers regarding their proposed spot Bitcoin ETFs.
