The event followed Bitcoin's all-time high in November 2021, and although the price of Bitcoin had fallen by February, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/ftx\/\">FTX<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/coinbase\/\">Coinbase<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/crypto-com\/\">Crypto.com<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/etoro\">eToro<\/a> all ran ad spots, seemingly in an attempt to capitalize on earlier hype around prices.<\/p>\n<p>That trend ended as suddenly as it began. The next Super Bowl in February 2023 featured no crypto ads. Reports at the time suggested three crypto companies planned to or had secured ad spots. Still, those advertisers ultimately backed out following the collapse of FTX months earlier in November.<\/p>\n<p>This year's most significant development \u2014 the launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs \u2014 is a positive one. But although ads for crypto ETFs are <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/watch-all-8-videos-etf-issuers-released-as-ads-to-promote-bitcoin\/\">attracting attention elsewhere<\/a>, no asset managers have announced ads in the upcoming game.<\/p>\n<h2>At least two AI ads are planned<\/h2>\n<p>Hardart suggested that Super Bowl ads will turn away from AI this year. Despite that claim, Etsy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketingdive.com\/news\/ad-tracker-super-bowl-lviii-marketing-campaigns\/697268\/#etsy-makes-super-bowl-debut-highlight-gifting-hub\">plans to air<\/a> an ad promoting its Gift Mode, a feature that uses AI and human curation to automate gift selection.<\/p>\n<p>Google also stated that it will air an <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/products\/pixel\/superbowl-ad-2024-watch-javier-in-frame\/\">ad for its Pixel phone<\/a>. That ad focuses on Pixel's AI accessibility features for blind and vision-impaired users. However, the ad takes a narrative approach and doesn't explicitly mention AI.<\/p>\n<p>Previous years featured similarly few AI ads. Dialpad, which advertised its AI-powered customer intelligence platform in 2023, is one exception.<\/p>\n<p>Greater hype exists around chatbots and general-use AI services such as OpenAI's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/chatgpt-drives-openai-toward-1b-revenue-goal-after-losing-540m-in-2022\/\">ChatGPT<\/a> and Microsoft <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/microsoft-launches-standalone-copilot-ai-app-on-android-with-chatgpt-4-capabilities\/\">Copilot<\/a>.
