This purchase also brings the firm within <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/insights\/microstrategy-owns-nearly-1-of-bitcoins-circulating-supply-after-new-purchase\/\">striking distance<\/a> of controlling a complete 1% of the total supply of the flagship digital asset.<\/p>\n<p>The firm stated that it funded this purchase by selling its shares and the excess cash available at the end of the 2023 fiscal year. As of Feb. 26, MicroStrategy said it has issued and sold more than 1.2 million units of its class A common stock for $750 million, with approximately $137.8 million generated since the beginning of this year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, this acquisition occurred less than three weeks after the company <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/microstrategy-bought-1-25b-of-bitcoin-in-q4-holdings-now-worth-8-billion\/\">revealed<\/a> that it acquired 850 BTC for $37 million in January.<\/p>\n<p>The news has stirred reactions within the crypto community, with some users humorously <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JanWues\/status\/1762103812032958669?s=20\">urging<\/a> the company to leave some Bitcoin for others and notable influencer Lark Davis <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TheCryptoLark\/status\/1762103996435562519?s=20\">remarking<\/a> on the company's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/microstrategy-becomes-profitable-on-bitcoin-bet-as-btc-surges-past-30k\/\">consistent bullish approach<\/a>, even amidst high prices.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, MicroStrategy's official account on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) was <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/hackers-exploit-microstrategy-social-media-to-orchestrate-440000-phishing-heist\/\">breached<\/a> earlier today and used to promote a fake airdrop of an Ethereum-based MSTR token.
