{"id":417522,"date":"2024-05-07T22:55:15","date_gmt":"2024-05-07T21:55:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=417522"},"modified":"2024-05-07T22:55:15","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T21:55:15","slug":"susquehanna-discloses-1-3-billion-in-spot-bitcoin-etf-investments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/susquehanna-discloses-1-3-billion-in-spot-bitcoin-etf-investments\/","title":{"rendered":"Susquehanna discloses $1.3 billion in spot Bitcoin ETF investments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Susquehanna International Group disclosed $1.3 billion of investments in spot Bitcoin ETFs in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1446194\/000144619424000004\/xslForm13F_X02\/file.XML\">May 7<\/a> 13F filing.<\/p>\n<p>The company reported holding 17.3 million shares of Grayscale's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/grayscale-bitcoin-trust\/\">GBTC <\/a>across three separate investments for a combined investment of $1.1 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Susquehanna additionally purchased 1.3 million shares of Fidelity's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/fidelity-wise-origin-bitcoin-trust\/\">FBTC<\/a> worth $83.7 million, 583,049 shares of BlackRock's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/ishares-bitcoin-trust\/\">IBIT<\/a> worth $23.6 million, 560,832 shares of Bitwise's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/bitwise-bitcoin-etf\/\">BITB<\/a> worth $21.7 million, and 508,824 shares of Ark 21Shares's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/ark-21shares-bitcoin-etf\/\">ARKB<\/a> worth $36.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>The company purchased 256,354 shares of VanEck's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/vaneck-bitcoin-trust\/\">HODL<\/a> worth $20.6 million, 255,814 shares of WisdomTree's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/wisdomtree-bitcoin-fund\/\">BTCW<\/a> worth $19.3 million, 166,200 shares of Invesco's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/invesco-galaxy-bitcoin-etf\/\">BTCO<\/a> worth $11.8 million, and 192,391 shares of Valkyrie's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/valkyrie-bitcoin-fund\/\">BRRR<\/a> worth $3.9 million.<\/p>\n<p>The combined investments represent a small portion of the total $575.9 billion investments the company reported in its latest 13F.<\/p>\n<p>Susquehanna's purchases include investments in nine of the ten spot Bitcoin ETFs currently on the market. Franklin Templeton's fund, EZBC, is absent from the company's latest filing.<\/p>\n<h2>Growing institutional investment<\/h2>\n<p>Susquehanna International Group is one of the largest companies to invest in spot Bitcoin ETFs today. The firm describes itself as one of the largest proprietary trading firms globally, and estimates suggest it has $481 billion of assets under management (AUM).<\/p>\n<p>The investments are also part of broader institutional interest in spot Bitcoin ETFs during the funds' first several months of availability.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/hightower-southstate-bank-disclose-investments-in-spot-bitcoin-etfs\/\">Hightower Advisors and SouthState Bank<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bnp-paribas-purchases-ibit-as-blackrock-anticipates-major-institutional-investment-in-bitcoin-etfs\/\">BNP Paribas<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/burkett-financial-services-buys-bitcoin-via-etfs\/\">Burkett Financial Services<\/a> have reported similar spot Bitcoin ETF investments in their 13F filings. Legacy Wealth Asset Management and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/insights\/fidelitys-bitcoin-etf-attracted-major-institutional-investors-in-q1\/\">various other firms<\/a> have also reported investments.<\/p>\n<p>Members of BlackRock and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bitwise-reveals-major-institutions-will-start-investing-in-bitcoin-etfs-starting-q2\/\">Bitwise<\/a> have predicted continued institutional investment in spot Bitcoin ETFs, a trend supported by the latest disclosures.<\/p>\n<p>This quarter's 13F filings disclose only purchases made before March 31, meaning that more recent purchases may remain undisclosed.<\/p>\n<p>Spot Bitcoin ETFs had a combined $52 billion of assets under management as of May 7, with $11.7 billion of inflows as of May 6.<span class=\"tabletext\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Susquehanna International Group disclosed $1.3 billion of investments in spot Bitcoin ETFs in a May 7 13F filing.
