{"id":422834,"date":"2024-05-31T12:30:59","date_gmt":"2024-05-31T11:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=422834"},"modified":"2024-05-31T11:42:01","modified_gmt":"2024-05-31T10:42:01","slug":"luna-foundation-moves-95-million-in-crypto-to-new-wallet-citing-enhanced-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/luna-foundation-moves-95-million-in-crypto-to-new-wallet-citing-enhanced-security\/","title":{"rendered":"Luna Foundation moves $95 million in crypto to new wallet citing enhanced security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/luna-foundation-guard\/\">Luna Foundation Guard<\/a> (LFG) has transferred approximately $95 million in crypto to a new wallet, aligning with recent plans to enhance fund security.<\/p>\n<p>On-chain <a href=\"https:\/\/platform.arkhamintelligence.com\/explorer\/address\/0x13463Aab3ECcE77Cfd8Cc28fA498a5F9DB242e27\">data<\/a> from blockchain Arkham Intelligence showed that the Foundation shifted 1.974 million Avalanche's AVAX token, valued at $71.2 million, and 39,500 BNB, approximately $23.5 million, to a new address identified as &#8220;0x13463Aab3ECcE77Cfd8Cc28fA498a5F9DB242e27&#8221; earlier today, May 31. The wallet received its initial test transactions from the Foundation on May 17.<\/p>\n<p>Despite these transfers, LFG's reserve <a href=\"https:\/\/lookerstudio.google.com\/u\/0\/reporting\/b31cc9e5-c54c-4418-a6ce-b332c57e82e9\/page\/4YBqC?s=or-T7NeGLew\">dashboard<\/a> shows that the foundation still holds approximately $161 million. This includes $71.36 million in AVAX, $45 million in UST, $23.38 million in BNB, and about $21 million in BTC, among other assets.<\/p>\n<p>LFG is a non-profit organization focused on the Terra ecosystem. In 2022, the Foundation was <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/luna-foundation-guard-just-moved-1-4-billion-bitcoin-to-exchange\/\">intensely scrutinized for its Bitcoin transactions<\/a> during Terra's algorithmic stablecoin UST crash.<\/p>\n<h2>Why did the Luna Foundation make the transfers?<\/h2>\n<p>In a May 28 social media <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/LFG_org\/status\/1795500437002670325\">post<\/a>, LFG said it was moving some assets in its multi-sig wallets to a more secure direct custody solution. It stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;To enhance security of LFG funds, LFG is set to transition assets held in LFG multi-sig wallets to a robust direct custody solution in the coming days.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So, the new transactions follow the announcement and involve the wallet the Foundation previously stated.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, this development follows the reported <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/terraform-labs-do-kwon-reach-tentative-settlement-with-sec-to-end-civil-lawsuit\/\">agreement<\/a> between the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), bankrupt <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/terraform-labs\/\">Terraform Labs<\/a>, and its former CEO, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/do-kwon\/\">Do Kwon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While details of the settlement remain sketchy as of press time, Judge Jed Rakoff has asked both the financial regulator and the defendants to submit supporting documents by June 12.
