Abuja Federal High Court Judge Emeka Nwite approved this request on Aug. 9.<\/p>\n<p>The EFCC's application named four wallets, with one holding $37 million USDT and others containing smaller amounts\u2014ranging from 90 to 967 and 443,512 USDT. The details of the wallets and their balances are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>TGVCWYLdeCyjmSpojd4n7hqfJp2ucwuGAx\u00a0 <span aria-hidden=\"true\">\u2014 <\/span>960 USDT<\/li>\n<li>bclqd6803rg24sgh4pjaprvh47apvgmleps9zagdt <span aria-hidden=\"true\">\u2014 90 USDT<\/span><\/li>\n<li>TB37WWozkkenGVYWD7Do2N5WT2CedqDktJ <span aria-hidden=\"true\">\u2014 37,061,869.3 USDT<\/span><\/li>\n<li>TUpHuDkiCCmwaTZBHZvQdwWzGNm5t8J2b9 <span aria-hidden=\"true\">\u2014 443,512.37 USDT<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In his ruling, Judge Nwite stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;That an order of this honourable court is hereby made freezing the wallet addresses\/accounts stated in the schedule below, which wallets are owned by individuals currently being investigated for offences of money laundering and terrorism financing, pending the conclusion of the investigation.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While the court did not reveal the wallet owners' identities, reports have suggested that they might be connected to the recent #EndBadGovernance protest in the African country.<\/p>\n<p>The protests from Aug. 1 to 10 were triggered by widespread dissatisfaction with Nigeria's economic and governance issues.<\/p>\n<h2>Wallets information<\/h2>\n<p><em>CryptoSlate's<\/em> analysis of the wallets using blockchain data from <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/arkham-intelligence\/\">Arkham Intelligence<\/a> showed that the wallets belonged to the hot wallets of some exchanges.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">For context, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/platform.arkhamintelligence.com\/explorer\/address\/TGVCWYLdeCyjmSpojd4n7hqfJp2ucwuGAx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TGVCWY<\/a> wallet<span style=\"color: #333333;\"> contained only $16 and was last active on Aug. 3. Before Aug. 3, the address's highest balance was $3,000, recorded in August 2023.<\/span>\u00a0Since then, it has had significant interactions with centralized exchanges like <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/binance\/\">Binance<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/kucoin\/\">KuCoin<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/okx\/\">OKX<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Arkham's data indicated that the wallets &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/platform.arkhamintelligence.com\/explorer\/address\/TB37WWozkkenGVYWD7Do2N5WT2CedqDktJ\">TB37WW<\/a>&#8221; and &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/platform.arkhamintelligence.com\/explorer\/address\/TUpHuDkiCCmwaTZBHZvQdwWzGNm5t8J2b9\">TUpHuD<\/a>&#8221; were associated with the hot wallets of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/mexc-global\/\">MEXC<\/a> and KuCoin exchanges.
