{"id":461113,"date":"2025-01-14T01:00:30","date_gmt":"2025-01-14T01:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=461113"},"modified":"2025-01-14T00:06:14","modified_gmt":"2025-01-14T00:06:14","slug":"jpmorgan-believes-solana-xrp-etps-could-attract-15-billion-in-net-inflows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/jpmorgan-believes-solana-xrp-etps-could-attract-15-billion-in-net-inflows\/","title":{"rendered":"JPMorgan believes Solana, XRP ETPs could attract $15 billion in net inflows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to an estimate by JPMorgan, exchange-traded products (ETPs) for <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/xrp\/\">XRP<\/a> and Solana (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/solana\/\">SOL<\/a>) could attract over $15 billion in net inflows.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Matthew Sigel, head of digital assets research at <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/vaneck\/\">VanEck<\/a>,<\/span> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/matthew_sigel\/status\/1878777857209487641\">shared<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that the forecast considers the performances of Bitcoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">BTC<\/a>) and Ethereum (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">ETH<\/a>) in relation to their market cap and ETP flows.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bitcoin ETPs reached $108 billion in assets within their first year of trading, representing 6% of BTC's total market cap of $1.8 trillion. Similarly, Ethereum ETPs achieved a 3% penetration rate within six months, amassing $12 billion in assets compared to ETH's $395 billion market cap.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using these adoption rates as benchmarks, SOL could see inflows between $3 billion and $6 billion, while XRP could attract between $4 billion and $8 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>ETFs are not close<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">According to a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/coinshares\/\">CoinShares<\/a> report, Solana-tied ETPs hold nearly $1.6 billion in assets under management (AUM)<\/span>. Meanwhile, XRP products boast $910 million in assets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the net flows for their ETPs reached $438 million and $69 million in 2024, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although the approval of exchange-traded funds (ETF) indexed to both assets could boost their total AUM, the odds of such an outcome in the US are low for now.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bloomberg ETF analysts <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/james-seyffart\/\">James Seyffart<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/eric-balchunas\/\">Eric Balchunas<\/a> recently<\/span> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bloomberg-analysts-expects-wave-of-crypto-etfs-next-year-but-some-hurdles-remain\/\">highlighted<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that President-elect <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump's<\/a> administration could favor new approvals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, ETFs tied to Litecoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/litecoin\/\">LTC<\/a>) and Hedera (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/hedera\/\">HBAR<\/a>) are more likely to be approved first. LTC is a fork of Bitcoin, which means its likely to be classified as a commodity, while HBAR has never been targeted by regulators and is unlikely to be classified as a security.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, SOL and XRP receive different treatment. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)<\/span> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/sec-rejecting-solana-etfs-is-genslers-parting-gift-to-crypto-industry-bloomberg-analyst\/\">recently rejected<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Solana-tied ETFs, while <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/ripple\/\">Ripple Labs<\/a> is still battling the regulator over whether XRP should be considered a security.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite the Bloomberg analysts predicting a wave of new ETFs this year, XRP and SOL products might be delayed.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0According to an estimate by JPMorgan, exchange-traded products (ETPs) for XRP and Solana (SOL) could attract over $15 billion in net inflows.\u00a0 Matthew Sigel, head of digital assets research at VanEck, shared that the forecast considers the performances of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) in relation to their market cap and ETP flows.
