Bush administration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"523\" data-end=\"914\">In his return to the SEC, Atkins stated that he was honored by President <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a> and the US Senate's confidence in him. He pledged to uphold the agency's mission to support capital formation, protect investors, and maintain fair and efficient markets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"916\" data-end=\"1098\">He emphasized his commitment to making the US a top destination for global investment and promised to collaborate with other commissioners and SEC professionals to achieve that goal.<\/p>\n<h2>Turning point for crypto<\/h2>\n<p>Atkins is widely seen as more favorable toward digital assets than his predecessor, Gary Gensler. During his Senate confirmation hearing, Atkins highlighted crypto regulation as one of his key priorities, a stance welcomed by many in the blockchain space.<\/p>\n<p>Atkins' appointment is expected to build on the several <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/sec-acting-chair-signals-support-for-regulatory-sandbox-to-facilitate-crypto-trading-innovation\/\">crypto-forward moves<\/a> under acting Chair <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/mark-uyeda\/\">Mark Uyeda.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Notably, Uyeda recently led efforts to form a crypto-specific task force, withdrew a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/sec-and-binance-pause-legal-battle-amid-new-crypto-regulatory-task-force\/\">enforcement cases<\/a> involving blockchain firms, and ordered a fresh <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/sec-signals-shift-in-crypto-regulation-policy-reassesses-firm-registration\/\">review of existing crypto policies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the new SEC Chair has notable exposure to the sector. He holds an estimated $6 million in crypto-related investments, including nearly $1 million in equity in two blockchain companies and $5 million in a crypto investment fund.<\/p>\n<h2>What does the community expect from Atkins?<\/h2>\n<p>Considering Atkins' pro-crypto disposition, industry leaders view his appointment as a possible inflection point for the emerging industry.<\/p>\n<p>Pierre Rochard, CEO of the Bitcoin Bond Company, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bitcoinpierre\/status\/1914542990460100978?s=46\">believes<\/a> Atkins' pro-market approach could support the approval of Bitcoin-backed securities.
