{"id":486199,"date":"2025-06-20T21:25:55","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T20:25:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=486199"},"modified":"2025-06-21T17:14:28","modified_gmt":"2025-06-21T16:14:28","slug":"bloomberg-analysts-revise-etf-approval-odds-to-90-or-higher-as-sec-requests-amended-filings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bloomberg-analysts-revise-etf-approval-odds-to-90-or-higher-as-sec-requests-amended-filings\/","title":{"rendered":"Bloomberg analysts revise altcoin ETF approval odds to &#8216;90% or higher&#8217; as SEC requests amended filings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bloomberg analysts have <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bloomberg-analysts-rankings-show-litecoin-leading-altcoin-etf-approval-race-while-xrp-trails\/\">sharply increased<\/a> the likelihood of U.S. regulators approving a new wave of cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds, pointing to a friendlier stance from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).<\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg senior ETF analysts <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/eric-balchunas\/\">Eric Balchunas<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/james-seyffart\/\">James Seyffart<\/a> said on June 20 that they now see a &#8220;90% or higher&#8221; chance that a broad range of crypto ETFs will win regulatory approval.<\/p>\n<h2>Altcoin funds<\/h2>\n<p>The revised forecast follows what the pair described as constructive discussions between the SEC and asset managers seeking to expand beyond Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>They also indicated that the SEC likely considers cryptocurrencies such as <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/litecoin\/\">Litecoin<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/solana\/\">Solana<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?s=XRP\">XRP<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/dogecoin\/\">Dogecoin<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?s=Cardano\">Cardano<\/a> to be commodities, a classification that generally <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/litecoin-climbs-on-hopes-of-etf-green-light-from-sec\/\">places them outside<\/a> the commission\u2019s direct oversight as securities.<\/p>\n<p>The surge in optimism comes after the SEC recently asked several issuers pursuing spot Solana ETFs to <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/sec-reportedly-fast-tracks-solana-etfs-potential-approval-arrives-within-5-weeks\/\">update their filings with clearer details<\/a> on in-kind redemptions and whether staking would be allowed.<\/p>\n<p>The move prompted some firms that had yet to file applications for Solana ETFs to <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/invesco-and-galaxy-chase-solana-etf-dream-with-delaware-trust-registration\/\">fast-track their submissions<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n<p>The requested changes, submitted in mid-June, signal that the SEC is actively reviewing the structure and mechanics of these funds, further supporting expectations of eventual approval. The regulator intends to respond within 30 days, raising expectations of approval within the next four to five weeks.<\/p>\n<h2>ETF performance<\/h2>\n<p>Crypto ETFs are expected to become a mainstay of the financial industry after spot <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">Bitcoin<\/a> ETFs set records for capital inflows.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/blackrock\/\">BlackRock\u2019s<\/a> iShares Bitcoin Trust, trading under the ticker <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/ishares-bitcoin-trust\/\">IBIT<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/blackrocks-ibit-rockets-to-70b-in-341-days-5x-faster-than-previous-record\/\">surpassed $70 billion<\/a> in assets earlier this month, less than a year after its launch. The product\u2019s consistent daily inflows have made it one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/insights\/blackrocks-ibit-leads-all-us-etf-inflows-following-bitcoins-historic-rally-to-new-ath\/\">fastest-growing ETFs in U.S. history<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, similar products tracking <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?s=Ethereum\">Ethereum<\/a> have faced slower uptake. While Ether ETFs launched last July, blockchain analytics show many investors remain at a loss compared to their entry price.<\/p>\n<p>With momentum building, fund issuers including Franklin Templeton have filed proposals for ETFs tied to other crypto assets like XRP and Solana.
