BlackRock\u2019s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT)<\/a> pulled in more money than the entire US Bitcoin<\/a> exchange-traded fund (ETF) market gained on Aug. 27.<\/p>\n

IBIT attracted $277.6 million during the trading session, while US spot Bitcoin ETFs collectively recorded $242.3 million in net inflows, according to Farside Investors data. That means BlackRock\u2019s fund accounted for roughly 115% of the market\u2019s net result.<\/p>\n

The notable gap came from redemptions elsewhere. Fidelity\u2019s FBTC lost $83.6 million, and Grayscale\u2019s GBTC<\/a> shed $27.2 million, producing $110.8 million of combined outflows.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, smaller products offset part of that pressure. Bitwise\u2019s BITB, ARK 21Shares\u2019 ARKB, VanEck\u2019s HODL, MSBT and Grayscale\u2019s lower-fee BTC fund attracted a combined $75.5 million.<\/p>\n

Even after those inflows, every fund outside IBIT collectively finished the session with a $35.3 million net outflow.<\/p>\n

BlackRock\u2019s dominance extends beyond a single session<\/h2>\n

The $242 million overall inflow extended the broader Bitcoin ETF market\u2019s positive streak to nine consecutive trading sessions while underlining how the run has depended heavily on BlackRock<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That dependence extends beyond a single session. Of the roughly $3.05 billion that US Bitcoin ETFs have attracted during their nine-day inflow streak since Aug. 17, BlackRock\u2019s IBIT<\/a> has supplied about $2.3 billion, or 75.6% of the total.<\/p>\n

IBIT has recorded an inflow in every session during the run, reinforcing a lead that has been building since the fund launched in January 2024.<\/p>\n

The fund has accumulated about $63 billion in net inflows and manages roughly $62 billion in assets. The broader US spot Bitcoin ETF market, by comparison, has generated about $54.8 billion in cumulative net inflows and holds approximately $100.9 billion in assets.<\/p>\n\n

IBIT\u2019s cumulative inflows exceed the category total because historical redemptions from funds such as Grayscale\u2019s GBTC have offset subscriptions into BlackRock and other products.<\/p>\n

Its dominance developed quickly. IBIT became the fastest ETF on record to reach $50 billion in assets, doing so in roughly 11 months, and later crossed $70 billion after 341 trading days.<\/p>\n

The product\u2019s influence has also expanded into derivatives. Options on IBIT, launched in November 2024, have grown into one of the largest venues for Bitcoin options exposure, adding another layer of liquidity around the fund.<\/p>\n

That depth helps explain why large allocators have gravitated toward IBIT<\/a>. Financial advisers, registered investment advisers, hedge funds, family offices and other institutional investors typically consider liquidity, trading volume and issuer infrastructure alongside the underlying Bitcoin exposure when selecting an ETF.<\/p>\n

BlackRock also brings significant distribution reach. The asset manager oversees more than $10 trillion globally and maintains relationships across wealth-management and institutional platforms.<\/p>\n

The current streak is increasingly reflecting those structural advantages. While Bitcoin ETFs as a group continue to attract capital, roughly three-quarters of the money entering over the past nine sessions has gone to BlackRock\u2019s fund.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
