The bank is exploring the possible benefits that IOTA's distributed ledger, otherwise known as the Tangle, will bring to the table. Strategic partnerships are crucial steps along the way to mainstream cryptocurrency adoption.<\/p>\n<p>DNB is the largest financial firm based in Norway, with total managed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/DNB_ASA\">assets<\/a> of more than NOK 1.9 trillion. IOTA's open-source ledger allows for feeless peer-to-peer microtransactions and the interconnectedness of machines. For a more thorough and concise introduction to IOTA, please see our <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/iota\/\">guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lasse Meholm, Head of Distributed Ledger Technology at DNB, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.iota.org\/dnb-teams-up-with-iota-to-explore-the-economy-of-things-and-mydata-gdpr-as-an-opportunity-20c41461e3f5\">said<\/a> about the partnership:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine to Machine (M2M) communication and payment for microservices seem to escalate in the future, we think engaging in a Distributed Ledger based technology like IOTA gives us valuable experience and know-how on future revenue streams and business models. We are looking forward to dive into the IOTA space.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier this week, IOTA partnered with the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/united-nations-office-for-project-services-announces-collaboration-with-iota\/\">United Nations<\/a>. The UN is interested in using IOTA's technology to cut down on intermediary expenses.<\/p>\n<p>Assuming DNB ASA discovers a logistical use case\u00a0for the Tangle, the partnership is an\u00a0important milestone for the IOTA Foundation.
