Even if Bitcoin could clear its old record, a true recovery would still be unfinished. In a CryptoSlate simulation using historical returns, 50.4% of paths closed above $126,198 at least once within a year, but only 34.8% finished above it. The gap was 15.6 percentage points: roughly one path in six reclaimed the level, then ended below it.<\/p>\n

Those outcomes expose the question a price target cannot answer: what happens between buying Bitcoin and reaching the forecast date?<\/p>\n

CryptoSlate's one-year Bitcoin prediction<\/a> puts the median terminal price at $124,281 on Oct. 26, 2027, from an Oct. 26, 2026 reference close of $80,007. The Bitcoin page<\/a> lists its record at $126,198, reached Oct. 6, 2025.<\/p>\n\n

Crossing the line is only the first event<\/h2>\n

A terminal forecast represents prices at an endpoint. A crossing estimate asks whether the price clears a barrier on any earlier observation. Staying above it requires a third test, covering what follows the first reclaim.<\/p>\n

For this analysis, we resampled historical returns in seven-day blocks to generate 100,000 paths using Coin Metrics daily prices<\/a>. Coin Metrics measures a multi-market USD reference close at the end of each UTC day. The simulation starts at its Oct. 26 close of $79,950, distinct from the published forecast's origin. It uses 1,096 daily log returns from Oct. 26, 2023, through Oct. 26, 2026, preserving their historical average return. Data were captured as of 10:47 UTC on Oct. 27; Oct. 26 was the latest completed observation.<\/p>\n

A crossing here means a daily reference close above the published record's dollar value, which may have been set intraday.<\/p>\n

The crossing-versus-finishing frequencies were 0.15% versus 0.11% over 30 days and 6.37% versus 4.21% over 90 days, widening to 50.4% versus 34.8% over 365 days. Very small short-horizon counts warrant particular caution.<\/p>\n

The distinction becomes sharper after the initial reclaim. In 42.1% of all paths, Bitcoin crossed and subsequently closed below the barrier at least once. Some recovered again, which is why that figure exceeds the 15.6% that crossed but finished below. Overall, 65.2% ended below the record, including paths that never reached it.<\/p>\n
