Instead of a rigorous verification process by scrutinizing tokens, their background, teams, developer\/user activity, FCoin gives users authority over which tokens can be listed on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike decentralized digital asset trading platforms like IDEX and Bancor, FCoin is a centralized exchange that manages user funds and private keys. Hence, it can easily conduct internal polls within its users and investors\u2013 similar to Binance\u2019s strategy of adding community coin of the month to decide which tokens get listed on the exchange.<\/p>\n<p>However, rather than a practical method of achieving consensus amongst users, the exchange will perform airdrops\u2013 a process of distributing tokens to specific user groups, allowing their authority over the token selection.<\/p>\n<p>Essentially, for a token to be listed on FCoin, \u00a0blockchain project developers are required to dispense the project tokens to each user on the FCoin exchange. This results in a mass distribution of transactions to hundreds of thousands of users, thereby facilitating as many on-chain transactions on the Ethereum network.<\/p>\n<p>FCoin\u2019s airdrops congested the Ethereum network by funneling millions of unnecessary transactions into the Ethereum main chain. In turn, decentralized application (dApp) developers and respected blockchain projects began criticizing the controversial business mode of FCoin, which performs similarly to a Rube Goldberg machine in that it goes through a series of processes completely unnecessary to reach its goal.<\/p>\n<p>MyCrypto tweeted:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">3\/ Basically, they want their users to &quot;vote&quot; for tokens to be listed. Instead of a traditional voting mechanism (like, I dunno, a fucking poll on their fucking exchange?!) they have decided to vote via &quot;cumulative deposit number ranking&quot;<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; MyCrypto.eth \ud83e\udd8a\ud83d\udc99 (@MyCrypto) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MyCrypto\/status\/1014270706056495104?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 3, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">7\/ One of the tokens that was listed is not a legitimate token. But, a few projects like 0x and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/zilliqa\/\">Zilliqa<\/a> along with developers led by <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum<\/a> creator Vitalik Buterin are allocating tremendous effort and resources to improve the ecosystem and scalability of the Ethereum network.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, <a href=\"http:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/0x\">0x<\/a>, the leading decentralized exchange protocol that operates as the base layer of most successful decentralized exchanges like <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/0x-up-30-after-paradex-acquisition-and-coinbase-pro-announcement\/\">Paradex<\/a>, (recently acquired by Coinbase), employed an off-chain system that batches transactions into a single on-chain transaction to reduce congestion on the Ethereum network.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of the efforts of innovative projects, inadequate conduct of projects such as FCoin is sufficient to negatively impact a nascent ecosystem with technology amidst exponential growth.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Buterin and other Ethereum developers are working towards achieving a million transactions per second through the implementation of Sharding and Plasma.
