Shiba Inu temporarily saw a period of zero burns before this quickly flipped as the SHIB burn address received fresh tokens.
Earlier on Saturday, Shiba Inu's (SHIB) burn tracker reported $0 worth of SHIB burned over 24 hours, marking a pause in SHIB burns. Shortly after, a single burn transaction of 20,408,894 SHIB by an unknown address given as '0x8172' changed this narrative.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 20.41 million SHIB has now been burned, according to Shibburn data at press time. This caused the daily burn rate to increase by 725%, ending a period of zero activity for the dog coin.
87.64 million SHIB were burned over seven days and about 693.20 million SHIB over 30 days, adding to the lifetime total of 410,845,045,282,575 SHIB burned.
Shiba Inu continues to contribute to SHIB burns in a significant way. According to longtime Shiba Inu community member Mazrael, "there's still the community burn portal being done."
This comes despite Shibarium-based burner ShibTorch being under maintenance, according to Mazrael, with the bridge and other portions of the infrastructure being worked on. Under ecosystem burns, 69.32 billion SHIB has been burned, according to ShibWatch. This is worth a total of $1.27 million at the price when each burn happened.
