The XRP Ledger is burning fees at a higher rate than usual, as the burn rate is up 848%. The jump lands while XRP trades at $1.51, holding above its 200-day moving average near $1.37 after breaking a descending trendline earlier this month. However, the implications some traders might draw are not that obvious.

Network activity is back on track

On the surface, network activity has clearly increased. Transactions total 2.9 million, up 276.6%, while successful transactions reach 1.9 million, up 172.6%. Payments are up 129.9% to 1.2 million. Since every XRPL transaction destroys a small fee, more activity naturally means more XRP burned. Payment volume also climbed 35.1% in 24 hours to 929.6 million XRP, well above the 30-day average of 615.4 million, though far from the 7 billion all-time high.

It's not completely bullish, though, at least, not as significant as it may seem at first. Roughly one million of the 2.9 million transactions did not succeed, meaning about a third failed. On the XRPL, failed transactions can still consume fees, so part of the burn spike may reflect spam or bot-driven activity rather than real economic use.

Engagement around key metrics

Other metrics also point to weaker engagement. Active users fell 69.5% to 152,200, and transactions per ledger dropped 25.7% to 142.43. Active accounts rose 378.1% to 18,200 and new accounts jumped 831.5% to 3,200, but a sudden burst of account creation can signal automated wallets as easily as new adopters. The ledger interval stayed steady at 3.89 seconds, so the network handled the load without strain.

The price chart shows a market that has not yet responded with conviction. XRP pulled back from the $1.66 high and is trying to stabilize above $1.50, with support layered around $1.37 to $1.31 where several moving averages converge. Volume on recent candles has faded compared with the August breakout.

A higher burn rate is generally supportive for supply, but its value depends on quality. If the increase comes from organic payments, it strengthens the case for XRP's utility. If it stems from failed transactions and automated spam, the effect is temporary.
