Bitget, the world's largest Universal Exchange (UEX), has introduced rToken Stock Transfer, a feature that allows users to move eligible U.S.-listed stocks and exchange-traded funds from traditional brokerage accounts into tokenized versions known as rTokens.
The service supports more than 3,000 assets and is designed to make transferring existing investments into a crypto trading platform more straightforward.
The process involves two steps. Users initiate a Free of Payment (FOP) transfer from their external broker to Bitget's designated Alpaca omnibus account.
Once the shares arrive and are processed, Bitget's In-Kind Tokenization Network automatically converts them into corresponding rTokens and credits the assets to the user's spot account.
Transfers into Bitget are free, with processing estimated to take approximately 10 business days. Moving assets out of the platform incurs a fee.
The launch forms part of Bitget's broader effort to integrate traditional financial instruments into its digital asset ecosystem. Through its real-world asset (RWA) initiatives, the exchange is seeking to make tokenized assets easier to transfer, trade and use across different financial products.
The feature builds on Bitget's rToken ecosystem, supported by its Reality asset issuance platform. As of July 6, rToken assets under management had reached approximately $114 million, while cumulative transactions exceeded two million.
Tokenized stocks expand their potential uses on Bitget
Once transferred, eligible rTokens can be used for spot trading and may qualify for additional functions, including margin trading, borrowing, lending and yield products, subject to asset eligibility and the relevant terms.
The approach is intended to give investors more options for managing their existing equity holdings without first selling the underlying positions and separately funding a crypto account. Bitget has also outlined a longer-term goal of allowing eligible tokenized assets to serve as collateral for other trading activities.
"Tokenization has already made traditional assets more accessible, but access is only part of the equation. The next step is making those assets more useful, giving people greater flexibility in how they manage and deploy their capital," said Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget. "With rToken Stock Transfer, we're making it easier for users to bring their existing stock holdings into Bitget, where eligible assets can eventually serve a wider range of purposes, including as collateral for other trading activities. That's the real potential of RWA within our Universal Exchange: allowing assets to move more freely and capital to work more efficiently."
To promote the launch, Bitget is offering eligible users a share of $1 million in rSPCX, its tokenized SpaceX stock product. The campaign applies to qualifying transfers and distributes rewards on a first-come, first-served basis.
Users making an eligible first transfer of $5,000 can qualify for $200 in rSPCX. Transfers of $20,000 and $50,000 qualify for $800 and $2,000 in rSPCX, respectively.
The two larger transfer tiers also include 14-day trading fee rebate vouchers worth $50 and $150, respectively. All rewards are subject to campaign terms and eligibility requirements.
The launch highlights a broader shift in tokenized finance, as platforms seek to move beyond offering blockchain-based access to traditional assets and toward integrating them into trading, lending and collateral systems.
Whether that model delivers greater capital efficiency in practice will depend on asset eligibility, liquidity, fees and the conditions governing each product.
