The Linux Foundation initiative LF Decentralized Trust (LFDT), which aims to create open-source, enterprise-grade decentralized technologies, has welcomed CertiK. The Web3 security firm intends to support LFDT projects and working groups with its knowledge of formal verification, auditing, and security research.

Trusted smart contract audit

The membership coincides with the growing security and regulatory demands placed on blockchain infrastructure. According to CertiK's research, licensing and token admission in many major jurisdictions now require independent smart contract audits, either directly or indirectly.

AML-related fines and settlements exceeded $900 million in the first half of 2025, indicating that anti-money laundering enforcement has become a significant source of regulatory risk. Exchanges, custodians, token issuers, and other companies that deal with digital assets are being forced by these developments to adhere to standards that are increasingly similar to those used in traditional finance.

As a result, security can no longer be limited to a final audit conducted prior to deployment. Rather, it is becoming increasingly necessary for businesses to incorporate security and compliance requirements directly into infrastructure. For that purpose, LFDT offers a framework.

CertiK joins the infrastructure

The Linux Foundation initiative unites businesses, financial institutions, and tech companies working on decentralized infrastructure in a variety of sectors, including supply chains, banking, healthcare, telecommunications, and finance.

Vendor-neutral standards, interoperability, and open-source development are prioritized in its projects. CertiK plans to take part in LFDT's working groups, open-source initiatives, and more general industry events.

More than 5,500 enterprise clients have benefited from the company's services, which include infrastructure assessments, penetration testing, smart contract auditing, formal verification, and compliance support.

CertiK's LFDT membership provides a way to apply that expertise beyond specific blockchain projects. The company hopes to improve security standards at the layer where institutional and enterprise blockchain deployments are built by directly contributing to shared infrastructure.
