The Fidelity Ethereum Fund (FETH) holds ether and trades on Cboe BZX. It offers Ethereum exposure through a brokerage account and stakes part of its holdings under the fund’s staking arrangements.
How FETH Works
FETH shareholders hold fund shares rather than ether in a personal wallet. The fund handles custody and staking. Retail investors buy and sell shares on the exchange and cannot redeem them directly for ether.
Fees and Staking
FETH charges an annual sponsor fee of 0.25%. Its introductory fee waiver ended in 2024. The fund withholds 15% of gross staking rewards, separately from the annual sponsor fee. Fidelity reports 27.00% as the trailing 30-day average percentage of fund assets staked, ending September 30, 2026. This average differs from a single-date allocation.
Shareholders remain exposed to ether price losses, custody risks and staking risks, including slashing and withdrawal delays. Brokerage charges and bid/ask spreads may add to the cost of buying or selling shares.
